Nashville Sounds (AAA) right-handed pitcher Michael Fiers was named as the team’s Pitcher of the Month, while Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (A) catcher Clint Coulter was awarded as the organization’s Player of the Month.
Fiers finished the month with a perfect 5-0 record in five starts for the Brewers Triple-A affiliate in the Pacific Coast League.
In 33.2 innings of work, the 28-year-old from Hollywood, Florida, allowed just three earned runs while striking out 47 batters.
Fiers wrapped up the month with a WHIP of 0.653 after giving up a total of only 19 hits and 3 walks in his five starts for the Sounds.
Coulter, a 2012 first-round pick, finished up the month of April with a .324 batting average in 22 games, reaching base safely in every game he played for Class-A Wisconsin.
The 20-year-old catcher hit four home runs and knocked in 17, while walking 15 times and putting up an OPS for the month of 1.065.
For the season, Coulter is batting .313 with 13 of his 25 hits going for extra bases and he leads the Timber Rattlers with five home runs.
Coulter and the Timber Rattlers open a three game series with the Clinton LumberKings at Fox Cities Stadium on Friday night, while Fiers next start is scheduled for Monday, May 5th as the Sounds host the Iowa Cubs.
