Shortstop Orlando Arcia knocked in three runs for the Sky Sox on Friday night.

FRIDAY’S RESULTS

MILWAUKEE BREWERS 8, Pittsburgh Pirates 4

Ryan Braun went 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs as the Brewers took game one of their series against the Pirates. Jimmy Nelson started and earned his second win of the year, going six innings and allowing just two earned runs. Shortstop Jonathan Villar collected three hits for Milwaukee and Chris Carter reached base four times with a single, double and two walks.

Memphis Redbirds 10, COLORADO SPRINGS SKY SOX 9

The Sky Sox scored four in the fifth and four in the seventh but it wasn’t quite enough as they fell to Memphis 10-9. Orlando Arcia was 2-for-3 with a triple and a pair of sac flies and Alex Presley finished 4-for-6 with a double and a triple to lead the Sky Sox offense. Jorge Lopez started and worked into the fifth inning, allowing three runs but Jim Miller, Mitch Lambson and David Goforth combined to give up seven runs over 4.1 relief innings with Goforth taking the loss.

BILOXI SHUCKERS, Mobile BayBears (PPD, Wet Grounds)

Biloxi and Mobile had their games postponed due to unplayable field conditions once again on Friday night. The two teams will attempt to play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 4:05 PM.

St. Lucie Mets 4, BREVARD COUNTY MANATEES 0

The Manatees were shutout once again, losing to St. Lucie 4-0 in the Jackie Robinson Celebration Game in Vero Beach. Eric Hanhold started and allowed just one earned run in 5.2 innings but was charged with the loss for Brevard. Angel Ortega went 2-for-3 with a double and Johnny Davis added a pair of hits for the Manatees. Dustin Houle was the only other base runner for Brevard, drawing the team’s only walk.

Peoria Chiefs 5, WISCONSIN TIMBER RATTLERS 3

Peoria scored two runs in the top of the ninth to break a 3-3 tie and knock off the Timber Rattlers in game one of their three game series. Jon Perrin went seven innings, striking out nine for the Rattlers, but Quintin Torres-Costa allowed two runs in his two innings of relief and was charged with the loss. David Denson doubled and drew a walk for Wisconsin while Luis Aviles, Jake Gatewood and Sthervin Matos each added a base hit.
