SUNDAY’S RESULTS

MILWAUKEE BREWERS 3, Pittsburgh Pirates 9

The Brewers dropped the rubber match in their series with Pittsburgh, losing 9-3 on Sunday afternoon. Zach Davies made his first MLB start of the year, but got roughed up for six runs, five earned, on eight hits in just 2.1 innings of work and was charged with the loss. Center fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis went 1-for-4 and knocked in a pair of runs while Chris Carter added a single and a walk in four trips to the plate.

Memphis Redbirds, COLORADO SPRINGS SKY SOX (PPD, Weather)

The Sky Sox once again had their game with Memphis postponed following Saturday’s snowstorm. The two teams will try to get in a doubleheader on Monday.

Pensacola Blue Wahoos 5, BILOXI SHUCKERS 0

The Shuckers were shut out for the first time this year, as they fell to Pensacola 5-0. Jorge Ortega started and pitched well, allowing just one run in five and two-thirds innings but was tagged with the loss. Biloxi managed just two hits, getting singles from Brett Phillips and Nick Shaw. Second baseman Javier Betancourt was the only other Shuckers base runner, drawing a walk.

BREVARD COUNTY MANATEES 13, St. Lucie Mets 0

Brevard’s offense exploded for 13 runs on 14 hits and their pitching staff held St. Lucie scoreless as the Manatees notched their third win of the year. Brandon Woodruff went five innings, striking out eight and earned the win with Brad Kuntz and Kaleb Earls each tossing two scoreless innings. Clint Coulter went 4-for-5 with a double and three runs scored. Shortstop Angel Ortega reached base five times, going 3-for-4 with a pair of walks and Fidel Pena added two hits and a walk.

Peoria Chiefs 9, WISCONSIN TIMBER RATTLERS 2

Peoria racked up nine runs on twelve hits as they topped Wisconsin 9-2. Jake Drossner started and suffered the loss after giving up six runs in 3.1 innings of work. Catcher Max McDowell went 2-for-4 with a walk and two doubles to lead the Rattlers offense. Luis Aviles and Elvis Rubio each finished the game 2-for-4 and Sthervin Matos drew a pair of walks.
