FRIDAY’S RESULTS

Miami Marlins 6, MILWAUKEE BREWERS 3

The Marlins took a no-hitter into the ninth, but Jonathan Lucroy broke it up with a bloop single. From there Milwaukee rallied to bring the go-ahead run to the plate but couldn’t quite complete the comeback, falling by the score of 6-3. Zach Davies suffered his third loss after giving up four runs in five innings. Lucroy, Alex Presley, Ramon Flores and Colin Walsh each singled in the ninth.

COLORADO SPRINGS SKY SOX 0, Iowa Cubs 1

The Sky Sox were shutout on Friday night, losing a pitcher’s duel to the Cubs 1-0. Hiram Burgos started and went five scoreless and Jacob Barnes worked two shutout frames, but Iowa tallied a run against Damien Magnifico, who was charged with the loss, in the eighth. Michael Reed went 2-for-3 with a walk while Eric Young doubled and Orlando Arcia singled for Colorado Springs.

Tennessee Smokies 8, BILOXI SHUCKERS 3

Tennessee scored eight runs in the eighth inning to come back and knock off Biloxi 8-3. Jorge Ortega started and worked five scoreless but Jed Bradley and Hobbs Johnson were each charged with four runs in relief with Bradley taking the loss. Nick Ramirez led the offense, going 3-for-5 with a double and a home run while Tyrone Taylor went 2-for-5 with a double

Lansing Lugnuts 0, WISCONSIN TIMBER RATTLERS 2

Marcos Diplan, Freddy Peralta and Nate Griep combined to shutout Lansing as Wisconsin picked up a 2-0 win at Fox Cities Stadium. Diplan went five innings, striking out eight and allowing just one hit to earn the win. Peralta followed with three innings of one-hit ball and Griep closed out the game with a scoreless ninth to notch the save. Carlos Belonis, Elvis Rubio, Blake Allemand and David Denson each picked up a pair of hits for the Rattlers with Jake Gatewood and Max McDowell adding a double each.
