Hard to believe but the 2016 season is already a month old for the Brewers top four affiliates. Here’s a look at who we here at Miller Park Prospects voted as the Players and Pitchers of the Month at each level of the organization for the month of April.

COLORADO SPRINGS SKY SOX

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Manny Pina – The 28-year-old catcher, acquired from Detroit this past offseason as part of the Francisco Rodriguez trade, staked an early claim for a spot on Milwaukee’s roster if/when Jonathan Lucroy is traded. In 14 April contests, he hit .365 with six doubles, a triple and a home run while driving in 13 runs.

PITCHER OF THE MONTH

Damien Magnifico – The former fifth round pick out of Oklahoma was nearly untouchable through the first month of the season. He allowed just two earned runs last month, holding opposing hitters to a .188 average an posting a WHIP of 0.86 while converting all four of his save opportunities.

BILOXI SHUCKERS

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Victor Roache – Known for his plus power, Roache has hit for a nice average early on in 2016. Through the month of April, the former first rounder was sporting a .302 average, collecting 16 hits in his first 53 at-bats of the season.

PITCHER OF THE MONTH

Jaye Chapman – Chapman has been lights out at the back end of the Shuckers bullpen. He did not allow a run in any of his first 11 games, giving up just two base hits while striking out 15 batters in 10.1 innings of work and converting on nine save chances.

BREVARD COUNTY MANATEES

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Angel Ortega – Known more for his defense, Ortega was one of the few Manatees to put together a solid month of April at the plate as well. In 22 games, the 22-year-old shortstop hit .337 with three doubles and eight runs batted in.

PITCHER OF THE MONTH

Brandon Woodruff – The former Mississippi State Bulldog made five starts for the Manatees in the month of April, going 1-1 with a 1.80 earned run average. He struck out 23 in 25 innings of work and held opposing hitters to a .232 average.

WISCONSIN TIMBER RATTLERS

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Luis Aviles – The versatile Aviles saw action at third base, shortstop, second base and even first base for the Timber Rattlers in April. He was equally impressive at the plate, collecting 16 hits in 15 games for a .308 batting average.

PITCHER OF THE MONTH

Jon Perrin – Perrin displayed pinpoint command in four April starts, going 1-0 with a 2.63 ERA. In 30 innings worked this season, the 22-year-old righty out of Oklahoma State has struck out 37 batters withouth issuing a walk and had a WHIP of 0.87.
