THURSDAY’S RESULTS

MILWAUKEE BREWERS 5, Cincinnati Reds 9

The Brewers dropped the opening game of their series with Cincinnati, falling to the Reds by a score of 9-5. Chase Anderson got the start and fell to 1-4 on the year after getting roughed up for seven runs over five innings. Chris Carter hit his tenth home run of the year for Milwaukee and Alex Presley also went yard as part of a 2-for-4 night. Second baseman Aaron Hill added two hits in four at-bats.

Round Rock Express 4, COLORADO SPRINGS SKY SOX 6

The Sky Sox rallied for three runs in the bottom of the eighth as they came back to defeat Round Rock 6-4. Hiram Burgos started and went 4.1 innings allowing one earned run. Jaye Chapman picked up the win despite allowing a run in his lone inning of relief and Damien Magnifico recorded his sixth save of the year. Keon Broxtonn went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple while Nate Orf also collected three hits in four trips to the plate and Will Middlebrooks added a double and a home run.

BILOXI SHUCKERS 1, Pensacola Blue Wahoos 8

Biloxi was out-hit 11-3 as they fell to Pensacola by a score of 8-1. Jorge Ortega started and took the loss, going five and giving up five runs. Catcher Jacob Nottingham collected two of the Shuckers three hits in the game, going 2-for-4 to raise his season average to .205. Right fielder Brett Phillips had the only other Biloxi base hit of the game and scored the team’s lone run.

Lakeland Tigers 4, BREVARD COUNTY MANATEES 2

Lakeland scored two in the seventh inning as they doubled up Brevard County 4-2. Kodi Medeiros started and went 3.2 innings, striking out five and allowing one earned run. Brad Kuntz was charged with the two seventh inning runs and suffered his first loss of the season. George Iskenderian and Elvis Rubio each collected two hits with Angel Ortega picking up the only other Manatees hit.

WISCONSIN TIMBER RATTLERS 3, West Michigan Whitecaps 5

The Rattlers fell behind early and never recovered, falling to West Michigan 5-3. Jordan Yamamoto started and took the loss after giving up five runs over five innings. Third baseman Jake Gatewood and shortstop Isan Diaz each went 2-for-4 with a double while Blake Allemand chipped in a pair of hits and Mitch Ghelfi and David Denson added a single and a walk.
