Jake Gatewood was named the Midwest League’s Player of the Week.

A pair of Brewers farmhands earned some awards on Monday as Biloxi outfielder Brett Phillips was selected as the Player of the Week in the Southern League and Wisconsin third baseman Jake Gatewood was honored as the Player of the Week in the Midwest League.

Phillips, acquired from Houston at the trade deadline last season, belted three home runs for the Shuckers on Saturday night and for the week, wound up hitting .269/.345/.769, belting a total of four home runs while driving in eight runs and scoring seven.

Gatewood, a former first round selection in 2014, hit .435 in six games for the Timber Rattlers last week. He hit three home runs and knocked in 11 while also scoring six and adding a stolen base for good measure.
