THURSDAY’S RESULTS

San Diego Padres 3, MILWAUKEE BREWERS 0

The Brewers were shutout in the opening game of their series against the Padres, losing by a score of 3-0. Jimmy Nelson started and allowed just two runs over eight innings but was charged with the loss. Scooter Gennett reached base three times in his return to the lineup, going 2-for-3 with a walk while Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Jonathan Villar each added two hits.

COLORADO SPRINGS SKY SOX 4, New Orleans Zephyrs 2

It took extra innings but the Sky Sox scored two runs in the top of the twelfth to defeat New Orleans 4-2. Tyler Cravy started and went five, allowing two runs. Jaye Chapman tossed three scoreless innings and earned the win with Damien Magnifico recording his eighth save. Andy Wilkins went 3-for-6 for Colorado Springs an Orlando Arcia chipped in two hits.

Jacksonville Suns 6, BILOXI SHUCKERS 8

Biloxi rallied for four runs in the eighth to come back and knock off Jacksonville 8-6. Javi Salas made the start but managed to get just one out, walking five and allowing four runs but his bullpen bailed him out. Brett Lee worked a scoreless eighth inning and picked up the win with Stephen Kohlscheen retiring the side in the ninth for the save. Nick Shaw collected four hits while Jacob Nottingham went 2-for-5 and Victor Roache and Javier Betancourt each belted a home run.

BREVARD COUNTY MANATEES 2, Daytona Tortugas 0

Eric Hanhold, Clint Terr and Jon Olczak combined to shutout Daytona as the Manatees picked up a 2-0 victory. Hanhold started and went five scoreless to earn the win. Terry followed with three shutout innings and Olczak tossed a 1-2-3 ninth to record the save. Second baseman George Iskenderian went 3-for-4 with a double while shortstop Angel Ortega contributed two hits in four at-bats.

Clinton LumberKings 5, WISCONSIN TIMBER RATTLERS 6

Mitch Ghelfi’s ninth inning home run tied the game and sent it to extra innings where Isan Diaz knocked in Carlos Belonis to give the Rattlers a 6-5 walk-off win. Devin Williams made his 2016 debut, going 3.1 innings and giving up four runs. Alex Farina tossed 1.1 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win. Diaz, Belonis and Max McDowell each had two hits while Trent Clark reached base four times with a double and three walks.
