San Diego Padres 8, MILWAUKEE BREWERS 7
The Padres launched a pair of home runs in the 12th inning as they defeated the Brewers 8-7 on Saturday night. Wily Peralta started and went 4.2 innings, allowing six runs. Carlos Torres, Blaine Boyer, Michael Blazek, Jeremy Jeffress and Tyler Thornburg combined for 5.1 scoreless innings of relief but the Padres finally got to Chris Capuano for those two 12th inning home runs as Capuano suffered his first loss of the season. Kirk Nieuwenhuis went 3-for-7 with two doubles while Jonathan Villar also chipped in three hits and Jonathan Lucroy added his fourth home run of the year.
Salt Lake Bees 1, COLORADO SPRINGS SKY SOX 2
The Sky Sox plated a run in the bottom of the 18th inning to walk off with a 2-1 victory over Salt Lake. Jorge Lopez got the start and went six innings, allowing just one run before turning things over to the bullpen. Austin Ross, Damien Magnifico, Brent Suter and Tim Dillard combined to throw 12 innings of scoreless relief, with Dillard going the final four to earn the win. Andy Wilkins finished 3-for-7 with two doubles and picked up the game winning hit in the 18th and Nate Orf also added three hits for Colorado Springs.
BILOXI SHUCKERS 2, Chattanooga Lookouts 5
Chattanooga scored three runs in the bottom of the first and never trailed after that point, taking game one of their series with Biloxi by a score of 5-2. Adrian Houser started and was charged with the loss, giving up five runs in 6.1 innings of work. Victor Roache belted his third home run of the season for the Shuckers with Jacob Nottingham, Garrett Cooper and Nick Shaw collecting two hits each.
BREVARD COUNTY MANATEES 7, Dunedin Blue Jays 2
After a slow start to the game, Brevard’s offense broke through over the final three innings, putting up seven runs in a 7-2 win over Dunedin. Brandon Woodruff started and got the win, going 6.1 innings and striking out ten. Fidel Pena went 3-for-5 with three runs batted in while Jose Cuas and Omar Garcia added two hits each and Brandon Diaz doubled and knocked in a pair of runs.
Cedar Rapids Kernels 14, WISCONSIN TIMBER RATTLERS 6
A night after giving up 13 runs to Cedar Rapids, the Rattlers allowed 14 runs to the Kernels on Saturday afternoon in a 14-6 loss. Jake Drossner started but lasted just two-thirds of an inning, allowing seven runs as he suffered his fifth loss of the year. David Denson walked and homered for Wisconsin while Alan Sharkey added a double and Monte Harrison singled and drove in two runs.
