SATURDAY’S RESULTS

Washington Nationals 5, MILWAUKEE BREWERS 6

The Brewers jumped out to an early lead on Saturday afternoon, then held on for a 6-5 victory over the Nationals. Matt Garza started and picked up the win, going six innings and giving up four runs. Jeremy Jeffress notched his 21st save of the year. Chris Carter finished 2-for-3 with a home run while Jonathan Villar added three hits in four at-bats.

COLORADO SPRINGS SKY SOX 8, Round Rock Express 5

The Sky Sox did all of their scoring in the first three innings but that proved to be enough as they defeated Round Rock 8-5. Hiram Burgos started and got the win, giving up four runs over 5.2 innings of work. Michael Reed, Andy Wilkins and Jake Elmore each slugged home runs for Colorado Springs while Kyle Wren and Orlando Arcia each chipped in two hits.

Montgomery Biscuits 1, BILOXI SHUCKERS 5

The Shuckers got 6.2 scoreless innings out of starting pitcher Wei-Chung Wang as they topped Montgomery 5-1. Wang picked up the victory, striking out nine and allowing just two hits. Johnny Davis went 3-for-4 while Tyrone Taylor went 2-for-4 with a double, Brett Phillips doubled and knocked in two runs and Angel Ortega added a pair of base hits.

Clearwater Threshers 5, BREVARD COUNTY MANATEES 4

The Manatees scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth but came up just short, falling to Clearwater 5-4. Bubba Derby started and was charged with the loss, going 4.1 innings and giving up three runs. Dustin DeMuth went 3-for-5 to lead Brevard’s offense while Malik Collymore and Clint Coulter added two hits each.

Quad Cities River Bandits 8, WISCONSIN TIMBER RATTLERS 4

Wisconsin dropped their game to Quad Cities by a score of 8-4. Marcos Diplan started and went three innings, giving up five unearned runs and was charged with the loss. Isan Diaz finished 3-for-4 with his eighth home run of the season while Trent Clark hit his second home run and Luis Aviles and Mitch Ghlefi each added two-hit games.

HELENA BREWERS 5, Great Falls Voyagers 2

Despite being out-hit, Helena took game one of their doubleheader, winning 5-2 over Great Falls. Michael Peterson got the start and worked four innings, giving up two runs. Trey Supak followed with three scoreless and earned the win. Demi Orimoloye belted his first home run of the season while Joantgel Segovia chipped in a double.

HELENA BREWERS 4, Great Falls Voyagers 11

Helena pitchers got roughed up in game two as Great Falls earned a split of the doubleheader with an 11-4 win. Scott Serigstad got the start but suffered the loss after lasting just an inning and a third and giving up five runs. Juan Ortiz finished the game 2-for-4 with a home run and Franly Mallen contributed a single and a double in three trips to the plate.

AZL BREWERS 2, AZL Padres 9

The Padres plated runs in six of eight innings as they toppled the Brewers 9-2. Carlos Herrera started and took the loss, giving up three earned runs in three innings of work. The Brewers offense managed just three hits in the game. Jose Gomez singled and drew a walk out of the leadoff spot while Zach Taylor added a double and Jay Feliciano finished 1-for-4.

DSL BREWERS 3, DSL Yankees2 6

The Brewers were doubled up by the Yankees, losing 6-3. Joaquin De La Cruz made the start and took the loss, giving up five runs, three earned over three innings of work. Shortstop Luis Avila reached base four times, going 2-for-3 with a pair of walks. Outfielder Yorki Franco doubled and walked and first baseman Luis Avalo added a double for the Brewers.
