Major League Baseball announced the initial rosters for their annual Futures Game on Tuesday and Milwaukee Brewers left-handed pitcher Josh Hader was selected to represent the organization on the USA Team.
Hader, 22, was acquired last season from the Houston Astros as a key part of the six player trade that sent outfielder Carlos Gomez and pitcher Mike Fiers to Houston.
He began this season at Double-A Biloxi, where he went 2-1 with an 0.95 earned run average in eleven starts. In 57 innings of work, he struck out 73 while allowing just six earned runs. That earned him a promotion to Triple-A Colorado Springs, where he has made four starts for the Sky Sox, posting a WHIP of 1.50 and recording 26 punchouts in 20 innings on the mound.
The 18th annual Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game will take place on Sunday, July 10th at Petco Park in San Diego, California with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 PM CST and will once again be televised by MLB Network.
