COLORADO SPRINGS SKY SOX

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Will Middlebrooks – The 27-year-old Middlebrooks got off to a slow start to the season but turned things around in the month of June, hitting .351 in 30 games for Colorado Springs. More than half of his hits went for extra-bases, including eleven doubles and seven home runs as he knocked in 29 runs.

PITCHER OF THE MONTH

Brent Suter – The left-handed Suter has been asked to bounce between the bullpen and the starting rotation for the Sky Sox, with four of his seven June appearances coming as a starter. For the month he finished 3-2 with a 3.33 earned run average, allowing just ten runs in 27 innings of work.

BILOXI SHUCKERS

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Garrett Cooper – Cooper has yet to produce big power numbers, but his .329 batting average leads the Shuckers this season. In 24 June contests, the former sixth rounder out of Auburn hit .373 and drove in 19 runs.

PITCHER OF THE MONTH

Stephen Kohlscheen – The 27-year-old Kohlscheen has been one of Biloxi’s more reliable bullpen arms since being acquired earlier this season. In June, the 6’6″ right-hander posted a 1.35 ERA, converting three saves and allowing just two runs in 13.1 innings of work.

BREVARD COUNTY MANATEES

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Dustin DeMuth – Not much went right for Brevard County in June, but DeMuth enjoyed his best month of the season, hitting .325/.398/.482 in 22 games, including three doubles, two triples and a pair of home runs.

PITCHER OF THE MONTH

Kender Villegas – Acquired by the Brewers in December in the Minor League portion of the Rule 5 Draft, Villegas finished the month of June with a 3.72 ERA, striking out six in five relief outings.

WISCONSIN TIMBER RATTLERS

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Isan Diaz – It’s been an up-and-down season for the 20-year-old Diaz at Class-A Wisconsin, but he caught fire in June, hitting .316 with five home runs and 20 runs batted in. Exactly half of his hits in the month went for extra-bases, upping his season line to .246/.324/.401.

PITCHER OF THE MONTH

Freddy Peralta – The 20-year-old Peralta has established himself as the jewel of the Adam Lind trade and he continued to thrive in June, going 2-1 with a 1.59 ERA. In five appearances, three of which were starts, Peralta held opposing hitters to a .190 batting average, striking out 27 in 22.2 innings of work.

DSL BREWERS

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Luis Avila – At just 17-year-old, Avila is one of the youngest players in the Brewers system, but he put together a nice month of June, hitting safely in 14 of the 19 games he played in and posting a .286 average.

PITCHER OF THE MONTH

Johan Dominguez – The 6’4″ right-hander made eight appearance for the Brewers Dominican Summer League team last month, including one start. He went 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA, striking out 15 in 16 innings of work and holding opposing hitters to a .232 average.
