SATURDAY’S RESULTS

St. Louis Cardinals 8, MILWAUKEE BREWERS 1

The Brewers were thumped by the Cardinals at Miller Park on Saturday afternoon, losing by a score of 8-1. Chase Anderson started and saw his record fall to 4-10 on the year after going four innings and giving up two runs. Kirk Nieuwenhuis singled and drew a pair of walks for Milwaukee while Scooter Gennett chipped in a double and Jonathan Villar singled and stole his 30th and 31st bases of the year.

Iowa Cubs 8, COLORADO SPRINGS SKY SOX 5

Iowa scored two in the eighth and two in the ninth to come from behind and knock off Colorado Springs 8-5. Jorge Lopez started and went five innings, giving up three earned runs. Damien Magnifico got tagged for three runs in an inning and a third of relief and was charged with the loss. Orlando Arcia led the offense, going 2-for-5 with a double, a triple and three runs batted in and Garin Cecchini added a single and a double.

BILOXI SHUCKERS 2, Pensacola Blue Wahoos 4

The Shuckers dropped another game to Pensacola, as they were doubled up by the Blue Wahoos by a score of 4-2. Angel Ventura made the start for Biloxi after being promoted from Brevard and went six innings, giving up four runs and taking the loss. Nick Ramirez finished 2-for-3 with a home run and a walk while Tyrone Taylor added a single and a double in four trips to the plate.

BREVARD COUNTY MANATEES 1, Bradenton Marauders 2

The Manatees piled up ten hits but only managed one run as they were defeated by Bradenton 2-1 in 13 innings. Cody Ponce got the start and went six shutout innings, striking out 12 for Brevard. Kender Villegas allowed a run in 2.1 innings and suffered the loss. Dustin Demuth stayed hot for the Manatees, going 3-for-4 with a double while Corey Ray and George Iskenderian each added a pair of hits.

Peoria Chiefs 3, WISCONSIN TIMBER RATTLERS 2

Wisconsin took a lead with two runs in the seventh only to have Peoria answer right back with two runs in the top of the eighth as the Chiefs topped the Timber Rattlers 3-2. Corbin Burnes made his Rattlers debut and worked four scoreless innings. Zach Brown followed, also making his first appearance as a Rattler and was saddled with the loss after giving up three runs over four innings. Brandon Diaz doubled and drove in both Wisconsin runs and Troy Stokes added a triple.

Billings Mustangs 1, HELENA BREWERS 2

Lucas Erge scored on a two out throwing error in the bottom of the tenth to give Helena a 2-1 walk-off win over Billings. Jordan Desguin got the start and worked six scoreless innings for Helena, striking out seven. Wuilder Rodriguez surrendered just one unearned run over the final four innings and picked up the win. Erceg finished the game 3-for-4 with a walk and Weston Wilson added a pair of base hits.

AZL BREWERS 1, AZL Indians 8

The Brewers managed just two hits as they fell to the Indians 8-1. Carlos Herrera got the starting nod and was charged with the loss after going four innings and giving up three runs, two earned. Boanerges Nova followed Herrera and tossed two scoreless innings of relief. Jose Gomez reached bas three times from the leadoff spot, going 1-for-2 with two walks and Trey York doubled and drew a walk.

DSL Nationals 2, DSL BREWERS 3

The Brewers edged the Nationals by a score of 3-2 in Dominican Summer League action on Saturday morning. Joaquin De La Cruz started and earned the victory, going five innings and allowing just one unearned run. Alberto Paulino worked the final two scoreless frames and notched the save. Javier Castillo singled, walked and drove in a run while Aaron Familia and Yorki Franco each picked up an RBI as well.
