FRIDAY’S RESULTS

Chicago Cubs 5, MILWAUKEE BREWERS 2

The Brewers dropped the opener of their series with the Cubs, losing by a score of 5-2 at Miller Park on Friday night. Jimmy Nelson started and was charged with the loss, going five innings and giving up two earned runs. Hernan Perez finished 2-for-4 with a double while Ryan Braun added his 14th home run of the season and Scooter Gennett added a double.

Round Rock Express 2, COLORADO SPRINGS SKY SOX 10

The Sky Sox returned home and snapped their second half losing streak with a 10-2 win over Round Rock. Brent Suter got the starting nod and earned the win, going six scoreless innings with Sam Freeman picking up the save. Keon Broxton and Manny Pina each finished with three hits while Eric Young Jr went 2-for-4 with a home run and Orlando Arcia, Kyle Wren, Nate Orf, Garin Cecchini and Yadiel Rivera each added two hits.

BILOXI SHUCKERS 3, Pensacola Blue Wahoos 2

Four Biloxi pitchers held Pensacola to just two hits as the Shuckers edged Pensacola 3-2. Wei-Chung Wang started and earned the win, going six innings and giving up just one run while striking out nine. Stephen Kohlscheen worked the final inning and a third to record the save. Brett Phillips went 3-for-5 with a home run while Tom Belza added a single, double and a walk.

BREVARD COUNTY MANATEES, Charlotte StoneCrabs (Postponed, Rain)

The Manatees had their game with Charlotte rained out on Friday night. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Saturday.

Fort Wayne TinCaps 7, WISCONSIN TIMBER RATTLERS 8

Wisconsin held on for an 8-7 win over Fort Wayne to earn a series sweep of the TinCaps. Corbin Burnes started and went three innings, giving up two runs. Zack Brown followed and went four innings, allowing just one run, and picked up the win. Nate Griep recorded his 15th save of the year. Lucas Erceg finished 3-for-4 with a double, triple and three runs batted in. Troy Stokes also collected three hits including two doubles and a triple and Jake Gatewood went 2-for-4 with a double.

Idaho Falls Chukars 7, HELENA BREWERS 8

Helena scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game, then plated a run in the bottom of the tenth to walk off with an 8-7 win over Idaho Falls. Nash Walters started but lasted just an inning and a third, allowing four runs. Shawn Clowers went the final three innings, giving up one run and earned the win. Ronnie Gideon and Nathan Rodriguez each picked up three hits for the Brewers while Yerald Martinez and Weston Wilson each collected two hits, including a home run.

AZL BREWERS 5, AZL Dodgers 12

The Brewers dropped game one of their doubleheader with the Dodgers by a score of 12-5. Nattino Diplan made the start and as charged with the loss, going 2.2 innings and giving up four earned runs. Zach Clark hit his second home run of the season while Chad McClanahan finished 2-for-4 and Trey York, Jay Feliciano and Julio Mendez each added a double.

AZL Dodgers 4, AZL BREWERS 3

The Dodgers scored four runs in the fifth inning to earn a sweep of their doubleheader with the Brewers. Victor Diaz made the start and worked two scoreless innings. Nelson Hernandez got roughed up for four runs in two innings of relief and was charged with the loss. Gabriel Garcia reached base three times with a walk and two triples while Mario Feliciano and Zach Taylor each added a double.

DSL BREWERS 6, DSL Tigers 7

The Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to walk off with a 7-6 win over the Brewers in Dominican Summer League action. Deymar Alvarado started and went four innings, giving up three runs. Yunior Juan allowed the two ninth inning runs and was charged with the loss. Moises Perez went 1-for-3 with a walk while Bryan Connell added a pair of walks.
