Chicago Cubs 6, MILWAUKEE BREWERS 5
The Cubs scored five runs in the seventh inning as they beat the Brewers 6-5 on Sunday. Junior Guerra started and went 6.1 innings, giving up just one unearned run. Will Smith followed and got roughed up for five runs, four earned, without retiring a batter and was charged with the loss. Ryan Bruan went 2-for-5 with a double while Kirk Nieuwenhuis added his eighth home run of the season.
Round Rock Express 4, COLORADO SPRINGS SKY SOX 5
Round Rock rallied late, but Colorado Springs answered with a run in the bottom of the eighth as they pulled out a 5-4 win. Hiram Burgos started and went 6.1 innings, giving up just one run. Damien Magnifico tossed the final two scoreless and earned the win. Orlando Arcia finished 2-for-4 with a double while Kyle Wren added two hits and a walk and Manny Pina also chipped in two hits.
BILOXI SHUCKERS 1, Pensacola Blue Wahoos 0
Brandon Woodruff almost single handedly led the Shuckers to victory as they topped Pensacola 1-0. Woodruff tossed six shutout innings, giving up just one hit and striking out nine while also hitting a home run for the only run of the game. Woodruff picked up the win with Stephen Kohlscheen earning the save. Chris McFarland and Nick Ramirez each singled for the only other Biloxi hits.
BREVARD COUNTY MANATEES 6, Charlotte StoneCrabs 7
Brevard dropped another extra inning contest, losing to Charlotte 7-6 in ten innings. Marcos Diplan started and went five innings, giving up two runs. Clint Terry allowed a run in an inning of work and took the loss. Blake Allemand finished 3-for-4 with a walk. Dustin DeMuth added two hits and two walks and Clint Coulter and Wendell Rijo each chipped in two hits.
Lake County Captains 6, WISCONSIN TIMBER RATTLERS 2
Lake County scored four runs in the top of the seventh as they defeated Wisconsin 6-2. Thomas Jankins started and went three scoreless innings. David Lucroy followed and suffered the loss after giving up four runs in 3.2 innings of work. Isan Diaz led the offense, going 2-for-3 with a double and a walk. Mitch Ghelfi and Domingo Santana each finished 1-for-3 with a walk.
Idaho Falls Chukars 7, HELENA BREWERS 6
Idaho Falls scored a run in the top of the ninth to help them top Helena by a score of 7-6. Karsen Lindell started for the Brewers and went 4.2 innings, giving up six runs. Matt Smith allowed one run over the final 4.1 innings and was charged with the loss. Nathan Rodriguez finished 3-for-4 with a walk while Yerald Martinez added a pair o doubles.
