WEDNESDAY’S RESULTS

MILWAUKEE BREWERS 1, Chicago Cubs 6

The Cubs scored five runs in the first as they beat the Brewers 6-1 at Wrigley Field on Wednesday night. Jimmy Nelson got the starting nod and took the loss after going five and giving up six runs. Keon Broxton singled and stole a pair of bases while Chris Carter, Jake Elmore and Ramon Flores each added a base hit.

El Paso Chihuahuas 5, COLORADO SPRINGS SKY SOX 3

El Paso plated two runs in the top of the seventh to help them defeat Colorado Springs 5-3. Aaron Wilkerson started and went six innings, giving up three runs. Sam Freeman followed and was tagged with the loss after allowing a pair of runs over two innings. Garrett Cooper homered and drew a pair of walks with Nate Orf and Michael McKenry adding two hits each.

Mobile Bay Bears 2, BILOXI SHUCKERS 3

The Shuckers edged Mobile by a score of 3-2. Luis Ortiz started and earned the win, going 5.2 scoreless innings and allowing just three hits. Stephen Kohlscheen recorded the final three outs for save #19. Tyrone Taylor hit his ninth home run with Jacob Nottingham adding a double and a walk.

Lakeland Tigers 14, BREVARD COUNTY MANATEES 6

Lakeland beat up on Kodi Medeiros and Brevard County as they rolled over the Manatees by a score of 14-6. Medeiros started and took the loss, retiring just one batter and giving up four runs. Elvis Rubio homered while Corey Ray went 2-for-5 with a double and Mitch Ghelfi, Wendell Rijo and Brandon Diaz each added two hits.

WISCONSIN TIMBER RATTLERS 7, Kane County Cougars 4

Wisconsin scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull out a 7-4 extra innings victory. Jordan Desguin got the start and went 4.2 innings, allowing four runs. Alex Farina, Scott Grist, Quintin Torres-Costa and Nate Griep combined for 9.1 scoreless innings of relief with Torres-Costa earning the win and Griep getting the save. Jake Gatewood finished 3-for-7 with a pair of doubles while Trent Clark reached base five times with a single, a double and three walks.

Grand Junction Rockies 9, HELENA BREWERS 2

Grand Junction beat up on Helena, defeating the Brewers by a score of 9-2. Wuilder Rodriguez got the start and suffered the loss, giving up four earned runs over 4.1 innings of work. Weston Wilson led the Helena offense, going 3-for-4 with a triple and Ronnie Gideon chipped in a double.

AZL BREWERS 9, AZL A’s 3

The Brewers scored nine runs on 13 hits as they cruised to a 9-3 win over the A’s. Daniel Brown made his pro debut and worked a scoreless first. Michael Gonzalez followed and earned the win with Boanerges Nova recording the save. Julio Mendez finished 4-for-5 while Zach Clark added a single, a double and a walk in six plate appearances.

DSL Cardinals 0, DSL BREWERS 2

Three Brewers pitchers combined to shutout the Cardinals as they scored a 2-0 Dominican Summer League victory. Jenri Montas started and got the win after going six innings. Wilfred Salaman tossed and inning and a third and Jesus Brea worked the final 1.2 innings for the save. Yorki Franco went 2-for-4 with a double while Bryan Torres also added two hits.
