SATURDAY’S RESULTS

MILWAUKEE BREWERS 7, Pittsburgh Pirates 4

The Brewers used a four run eighth inning to knock off the Pirates by a score of 7-4 in Pittsburgh on Saturday night. Jimmy Nelson got the start and went 5.1 innings, allowing just one run. Carlos Torres was credited with the win and Tyler Thornburg earned the save. Chris Carter went 4-for-5 with a home run while Keon Broxton and Orlando Arcia finished with three hits each.

COLORADO SPRINGS SKY SOX 1, Iowa Cubs 5

Iowa scored two in the second and three in the third as they topped Colorado Springs 5-1. Wei-Chung Wang started for the Sky Sox and suffered the loss, going 4.2 innings and allowing all five runs. Michael Reed reached base three times with a walk and two singles. Nate Orf also recorded a pair of hits and Ramon Flores added a double.

BILOXI SHUCKERS 2, Mississippi Braves 6

Biloxi was eliminated from playoff contention, falling to the Braves 6-2. Starting pitcher Taylor Jungmann was charged with the loss after giving up three runs over 5.2 innings. Angel Ortega finished with three hits for the Shuckers. Johnny Davis went 2-for-3 with a triple and a walk while Brett Phillips and Javier Betancourt each added two hits.

Daytona Tortugas 3, BREVARD COUNTY MANTEES 5

Brevard County used a four-run sixth inning to knock off Daytona 5-3. Phil Bickford got the start and earned the win, going 6.1 innings and allowing just two earned runs. Jon Olczak worked a scoreless ninth to notch his tenth save. Trey York walked, singled and tripled while Wendell Rijo and Dustin Houle each added a hit and a walk.

WISCONSIN TIMBER RATTLERS 8, Beloit Snappers 4

Wisconsin scored in seven of nine innings as they lowered their magic number to clinch a playoff spot to one with an 8-4 victory over Beloit. Jake Drossner started for the Rattlers and picked up the win, going five innings and giving up two runs. Alan Sharkey led the offense, going 3-for-5 with a double while Max McDowell added two hits and Monte Harrison walked three times.

HELENA BREWERS 4, Billings Mustangs 5

Billings plated a run in the bottom of the ninth to walk off with a 5-4 win over Helena. Nattino Diplan started and went 4.1 innings, allowing four runs, three earned. Jack Finnegan allowed the final run and was tagged with the loss. Yerald Martinez drew three walks and belted his tenth home run of the season while Franly Mallen also homered for the Brewers.
